About c2c

The Fenchurch Street Railway to South Essex was first built in the 1850s and was operated by the London, Tilbury & Southend Railway. Throughout the nineteenth century, the line was expanded and new stations were built, and in 1912 the line was taken over by the Midland Railway (later the London, Midland and Scottish Railway). The local service was nationalized in 1948, becoming part of British Rail which, and continued until the re-privatization of British Railways in 1996. In 1996, the franchise was transferred to Prism Rail, which operated under the brand name LTS Rail. In the 1990s, its poor punctuality earned it the nickname 'Misery Line', as did the old-fashioned trains with slammed doors. In 2000, Prism Rail was acquired by the National Express Group. The introduction of the new trains between 2000 and 2003 dramatically improved both punctuality and customer satisfaction. In 2003, a new brand name for rail services was also introduced - c2c. In February 2017, c2c was acquired by the current owner of Trenitalia (one of the leading European rail operators) and the Department of Transportation's current franchise runs until 2029.c2c is an award-winning train company that operates services between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, serving 26 East London and South Essex stations. Its main London station is Fenchurch Street. c2c has been hailed as one of the UK's most popular and punctual operators, winning 15 industry and corporate awards over the past five years, including 'Rail Operator of the Year' at the 2018 National Transport Awards.c2c is a leader in the rail industry as the first company to introduce new customer-friendly products, such as automatic delay refunds for customers whose journeys are delayed by more than two minutes and flexi seasonal tickets for part-time workers.c2c also holds the UK record for punctuality in one year (97.5%) and four weeks (98.8%).

    Book in advance
Most of the railway companies throughout Europe release their tickets approximately three to six months in advance, with many offering lower prices for early bookings. If you know the dates you wish to travel, it may be possible to secure cheaper train tickets from Milan to Rome by booking in advance.
    Split Tickets
Choose a slower or connecting train
On certain busier routes, it may be possible to opt for a slower or connecting train. Although it may take slightly longer than high-speed or direct services, you could potentially secure a cheaper fare if you have some extra time to spare. Additionally, you'll have more opportunity to appreciate the scenic views of the countryside!
    Travel Off-Peak
Be open to flexibility in your travel schedule
